Romantic dinners, business lunches, friendly get-togethers, family celebrations. When we have the desire to connect with somebody, our instinct is to break our bread together. The table (or any sharing space) is our most basic tool for emotional intimacy. Even though the necessities of the table have evolved into pleasures over time,
the communal bond that comes along with it hasn’t.
